Scott discussed the insidious nature of fentanyl's potency and how 80% of illegal drugs that are seized contain fentanyl.  He also discusses how frequently kids may go to parties and unwittingly take something that can end their lives.

He has this advice for parents, "Parents really need to be listening right now in a way they have not previously."

That is about 930,000 deaths since 1999 and drugs like fentanyl are only contributing to this ongoing problem.

Scott H. Silverman recently appeared on America Trends to discuss the shocking death toll wrought by the Opioid Epidemic, and share thoughts about how we can make progress against this "pandemic within a pandemic."

His segment on August 11th, 2021 discussed his background and recovery and talked about how he approaches his work in helping those with a SUD by “meeting them where they are at” to reduce the stigma of addiction, which is a huge hurdle that we need to overcome as a society in order to make progress in the battle against the opioid epidemic.

Scott H. Silverman appeared on KOGO (AM 600),  "San Diego's Breaking News Station" to discuss the opioid epidemic, and the influence fentanyl has played in it.

As he usually does, Scott discussed the 240 people who overdose fatally every day in the United States. And as always, he reminds that there is hope and help available, urging anyone who is struggling with a substance use disorder, or cares about someone who may be, to get help.
